Trees, Ferns, Orchids
Walking in the forests under the many shades of green, you will find in the occasional soft beige and brown leaves of the parasol tree. The forest croton bears clusters of orange berries which attract birds and monkeys, while the yellow flowers of the forest star fall and decorate the pathways.
The Vumba forests provide an ideal moist micro climate for a wide variety of ferns. These range from the large leaved Marattia and pre-historic tree ferns to tiny delicate filmy ferns that coat the trunks of trees. Colonies of epiphytic orchids decorate the branches of the trees and underneath, white and purple flowered terrestrial orchids grow in the damp leaf mould.
