
Small, head and throat dark grey, greenish back, wings bluish grey. Underparts bright yellow. Tail yellow with black centre and tip. “Stars” are small white patches above each eye, and on the throat which are flashed in courtship or when the bird is alarmed. Not normally visible. Quiet, 4 note whistling song. Does not imitate. Shy but will investigate ‘spishing’. Fairly common. Forages on ground and undergrowth in the forests. Altitudinal migrant although some birds are resident.
